She Plays To Win visits Parliament

Monday 29th April 2024 saw a very special event take place for 8 SPTW girls.

The were invited to play a chess match against the UK Parlimentary chess team, and then given a tour afterwards. This involved witnessing debates in both the House of Commons and House of Lords.

Our thumbnail photo shows the Rt Hon. Tobias Ellwood MP playing in the match.

He commented: ‘I am a proud member of the UK Parliamentary Chess Club (UKPCC) and this week we had the pleasure of welcoming the ‘She Plays To Win’ team to Parliament to play against us.

I was unsurprisingly outplayed and well-beaten in my game along with the rest of the UKPCC team! It is very exciting to see the talent and potential from our opponents and I am sure they will make great strides in the future’.

We hope this event inspired the girls both on and off the chess board!
