Lionesses roar to top of 4NCL Division 2

The first weekend, of 5 weekends of the 2025/26 season of the 4NCL (4 Nations Chess League) the prestigious chess league in the UK, began on the weekend of 1st and 2nd November in Dudley.

Despite having the lowest team rating of all 12 teams in Division 2, the Lionesses A team roared to a brilliant start as they won both matches on the opening weekend. They defeated Scottish team, Alba, by 5-3 and then Sussex Martlets 1 by a narrow 4.5-3.5 victory.

This leaves them joint top with 2 other teams after weekend 1.

The squad is understandably excited about trying for promotion to Division 1, but there is a long season ahead.
