Bancroft’s and St Pauls Girls School win ECF Girls Schools Championships

April 5th and 6th 2025 saw the finals of the English Chess Federation (ECF) National Girls Schools Finals take place at St Catherine’s School, Bramley.

10 teams for Under 11 and 10 teams for Under 19 had made it through the semi final in January to qualify for the final, which was a 9 round all play all.

In the Under 11 primary section, Bancroft’s School won with a huge 26 points from 27 games, ahead of Eltham College (22) and City Juniors (18.5) in 3rd.

In the Under 19 secondary section, St Paul’s Girls School won their first ever title with a score of 22.5 from 27 games, pipping North London Collegiate (also 22.5) on tie break. Henrietta Barnett came in 3rd on 17.5 points.
